Registration for N,5000 to poor and vulnerable Nigerians starts today.

The Federal Government has said that, registration for the conditional cash transfer of N5,000 to the vulnerable and the poor people across the country would begin on Monday.

The Minister for Humanitarian and Disaster Management, Sadiya Farouq disclosed this on Friday while speaking with newsmen shortly after meeting with the governor of Ogun state, Dapo Abiodun and the COVID-19 task force team at the Governor’s office, Oke-Mosan.

The Minister said, the cash transfer is an intervention by the federal government to poor and vulnerable.

Farouq noted that, the Federal Government has ordered that the ministry should pay two months advance due to coronavirus.

She said ” This is part of the issue we discuss with the Excellency, we have assured him, already work is in progress. My team and the state team are working; by Monday we are going to start the registration of the beneficiaries from all the communities together with the state government.

” It is a process, but I assure you that in the next payment round of May and June, Ogun state will be captured. The cash transfer is an intervention by the federal government to poor and vulnerable, the federal government is paying them N5,000 per month. But, with this COVID-19, the federal government asked us to pay two months advance and that is why we are paying them this N20,000.”
