Nigerians react with anoyance as Lagos State government speak on school resumption;see thier reactions here.

According to the initial Lagos state government Academic Calender for 2019/2020 session, the third term activity was supposed to commence on 20th Of April, 2020. But the coronavirus pandemic has led to change of academic activities in the state and in the country at large. In lieu of this, the lagos state government has declared that private and public schools should remain closed in order to protect the lives of pupils and students. The commissioner of education in Lagos state Mrs Folashade Adefisayo reaffirms the decision of the state government on reopening the schools for third term academic calender. This information was made available via the official social media networks of the state government which stated categorically that the state will rather intensify the distance learning than asking the school to open for operations.

According to the report which was made available via the official social media networks of the Lagos state government, the commissioner urged all the private schools proprietors who are aiming at resuming schools amidst the lockdown to abandon such plans as the Lagos state government has no plan to reopen the schools.https://myinfor.school.blog/2020/04/22/mathematics-exercise-for-jss1/

Furthermore, the school closure is a good strategy to protect the pupils and students, more importantly it also help to contain the virus. With the increase in the numbers of confirmed cases in the state, it is not advisable that school should open. This may expose the pupils and students to the virus. Government cannot afford to risk the lives of the little children. There is possible of an escalation and fast spread if a pupil get infected, but I think the government decision is in the right order.

However, the fight against covid-19 is a collective efforts, for schools to resume back on time, we all need to do our part by following the state government directives. The washing of hands, staying indoor and observing social distancing are very important this period. By so doing we can flattens the coronavirus curve and school can then think of resuming.
